Protect Pure Maths relaunches as the Campaign for Mathematical Sciences

The Protect Pure Maths Campaign has relaunched as the Campaign for Mathematical Sciences (CaMS). The campaign, which is managed by the London Mathematical Society, aims to advance the mathematical sciences for discovery, innovation and the economy, by supporting engagement and providing specialist advice in maths policy.

LMS at the 9th European Congress of Mathematics

The 9th European Congress of Mathematics (9ECM) is taking place from 15-19 July 2024, and the LMS is exhibiting throughout. Come and find us at Booth 22 where you can speak to our Membership and Publications teams and find out more about the Society.

The LMS Lecture will take place on 16 July 2024 with Professor Heather Harrington (University of Oxford) as our guest speaker. The LMS Lecture is open to both members and non-members who are attending 9ECM.

Louis Bachelier Prize Winner 2024

The Prize Committee has recommended to award the 2024 Louis Bachelier Prize to Professor Peter Tankov.

Peter Tankov is a mathematician with expertise in applied probability and stochastic modelling. He is currently Professor of Quantitative Finance at ENSAE - Institut Polytechnique de Paris (France).

Tankov’s research contributions in applied probability, computational finance and mathematical modelling in finance, have been influential both in academia and among market practitioners and regulators. His research has spanned a broad set of topics, including
