Members of the London Mathematical Society may register as UCL Library users online. No charge is made for the initial registration.
To register online, please complete the application form and attach the following items on the form:
- Passport-size photograph (colour, facing camera, above shoulders only)
- A photo/scan of proof of address (for instance, valid driving licence or recent utility bill)
- Proof of membership – a letter of confirmation can be obtained from the Society, please email membership@lms.ac.uk
All applicants must complete an online registration form and have received an email confirming their library membership before arriving at the library to collect a library card.
Please note, UCL no longer process walk-in new applications or renewals at their membership desks.
Please allow two working days for your application to be processed and for you to be contacted to confirm that your card is ready to collect.
Please note that library cards are valid for 12 months from date of issue and will need to be renewed each year.
How to Renew your Library Card
To renew your library card online, please complete the application form and attach the following items on the form:

No charge is made is made for renewing expired library cards or cards which are within one calendar month of expiring.
Lost/Stolen/Forgotten/Damaged Cards
Lost/Stolen Cards – If a UCL library card is lost or stolen during its period of validity, please contact the Library Membership Team to request a replacement card. They will confirm when it is ready for you to collect. The first replacement will be free of charge. However, a charge of £15.00 will be payable for subsequent replacement cards.
Forgotten Cards – Please note that if you forgret your library card, you will not be admitted to any UCL Library.
Damaged Cards – If your card is damaged and can be returned to the UCL Library, there will be no charge in issuing a replacement.
