Tiered Ordinary Membership rates for current and new members
The Society offers three tiers of Ordinary membership rates and members who pay the Ordinary membership rate can confirm online which membership rate they wish to pay based on whether their annual professional income falls within the following ranges:
- Above £70,000 per annum: Ordinary (high) member rate.
- Between £40,000-£70,000 per annum: Ordinary (middle) member rate.
- Up to £40,000 per annum: Ordinary (low) member rate
The Society will not collect any data on members’ actual professional income nor require proof of earnings. Instead, Ordinary members are asked to advise either via their online member record or the subscription form which tier of Ordinary membership subscription they will be paying.
Please note that the default subscription fee for all new Ordinary members will be Ordinary (Middle) member rate so members are asked to advise us of any changes at your earliest convenience. All members can amend their tier type via either their online member record or by completing and returning the subscription form.

How to pay
- By Direct Debit:
Please note the Society accepts payment by direct debit and members with a UK bank account may find this option a more convenient way to pay their membership fees. We regret we cannot collect direct debit payments from non-UK accounts. If you have a UK bank account and would like to pay by direct debit, please set up a direct debit with the Society’s approved payment provider, GoCardless. Please refer to the Guidance on How to set up a Direct Debit.
Members paying by direct debit will be contacted to confirm the date on which their accounts will be debited. The main annual direct debit collection is normally on, or just after, 1 November each year.
If you have any queries, please contact the Membership Department (email. membership@lms.ac.uk).
- By Credit Card:
Credit/Debit Card payments are now accepted online only via the Society’s approved payment provider: WorldPay. To pay by credit/debit card online, please log in to your LMS Membership account and the payment options will be visible under the "My LMS Membership" tab that will then appear onscreen. Please note you will be re-directed to WorldPay to complete the payment. At the end of the transaction, you will be directed back to your membership record.
If you have any queries, please contact the Membership Department (email. membership@lms.ac.uk).
- By Cheque:
Please note we accept payment by cheque in either Pound Sterling or US Dollars only. We regret we cannot accept payment by cheque in other currencies. Please complete the subscription form and return it with your cheque to the Membership Department, by post: Membership, De Morgan House, 57-58 Russell Square, London, WC1B 4HS.
