Since 2010, the Society has run the LMS Library & Archive Student Placement scheme to assist with the management of the Society's Archive. The Students work under the supervision of the LMS Archivist, in a 12 week placement that focuses on projects that aim to improve the access and smooth operation of the Society's archives (physical and online, via its website).
Recent projects have included transcribing Thomas A. Hirst's collection of letters, writing summaries of the minutes from early Council and Society meetings, and cataloguing the G.H. Hardy Collection and the Philippa Fawcett Collection.
As of 2023, the Student Placements take place on a biennial basis, with relevant information found here, at the time when the job applications go live.
