This page contains information on what happens if an article is accepted for publication in the Transactions of the London Mathematical Society.
For information on submitting to the Transactions of the London Mathematical Society, see the submission guidelines; or for information about peer review, see the peer review policy.
Production
Upon acceptance, articles will be sent to Wiley for typesetting.
The Corresponding Author will receive a link to check the proofs via an online proofing tool. There is also an option to view these proofs as a PDF.
Gold Open Access
The Transactions of the London Mathematical Society is a fully gold open access journal.
In many cases, authors qualify for complimentary gold open access publication through an institutional agreement with the publisher. Eligibility is determined by the affiliation of the corresponding author and can be checked on the publisher's website.
If an author does not qualify for complimentary gold open access publication, they will be charged an Article Publication Charge (APC). Please note, your funding body or institution may have funds available specifically for paying APCs, or money that can be used for this purpose. This is not always well advertised, so check your funding agreements or with your institution’s library or Research Services department whether there are any funds you might be eligible for.
Wiley’s partnership with Research4Life enables research from authors from low income economies to published articles open access by providing automatic waivers and discounts on APCs. The list of countries for which automatic waivers or alternatively discounts on APCs can be found here: Open Access Waivers and Discounts | Wiley.
If you have exhausted the options above and do not have funding available to publish, the LMS and Wiley will waive APCs for articles of sufficient quality to warrant publication. This offer may be withdrawn at any time.
See our open access page for more information.
Licence to Publish
Authors will be asked to sigh a Licence to Publish agreement assigning a non-exclusive Licence to Publish to the London Mathematical Society.
Authors will also need to choose one of three Creative Commons licences. These licences provide a legal framework for giving users the ability to freely view, download and distribute content.
- CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 (Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License)
Allows users to copy, distribute and transmit an article as long as the author is attributed, the article is not used for commercial purposes, and the work is not modified or adapted in any way.
- CC-BY-NC 4.0 (Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License)
Allows users to copy, distribute and transmit an article, and adapt the article as long as the author is attributed and the article is not used for commercial purposes.
- CC-BY 4.0 (Attribution 4.0 International License)
Allows users to copy, distribute and transmit an article, and adapt the article as long as the author is attributed. The CC BY license permits commercial and non-commercial reuse.
Data Access Statement
Many funders now require that authors include a Data Access Statement (sometimes called Data Availability Statement) in their articles, even if no new data has been generated in the work.
The London Mathematical Society has produced guidance on this for mathematicians, including template Data Access Statements, to help mathematicians to meet their funder requirements.
If authors wish to include a Data Access Statement in their article, they will be prompted to insert it at the proof stage.
