This page contains information on what happens if an article is accepted for publication in the Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society.
For information on submitting to the Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society, see the submission guidelines; or for information about peer review, see the peer review policy.
Production
Upon acceptance, articles will be sent to Wiley for typesetting.
The Corresponding Author will receive a link to check the proofs via an online proofing tool. There is also an option to view these proofs as a PDF.
Gold Open Access
Some funders or institutions may require authors to publish articles on a gold open access basis. Wiley has an Author Compliance Tool to check the policies of different funders or institutions.
To publish on a gold open access basis, authors should click 'Yes' to choose 'OnlineOpen' when completing the License to Publish form.
In many cases, authors qualify for complimentary gold open access publication through an institutional agreement with the publisher. Eligibility is determined by the affiliation of the corresponding author and can be checked on the publisher's website.
If authors do not qualify for complimentary open access but still need to publish on a gold open access basis, they will be charged an Article Publication Charge (APC).
For more information about open access, see our open access webpage.
Licence to Publish
Authors will be asked to sigh a Licence to Publish agreement. The exact terms of the Licence to Publish will depend on whether the article is published on a subscription or open access basis, and any Creative Commons licence chosen.
Subscription publishing
If publishing on a subscription basis, authors will be asked to assign an Exclusive Licence to Publish to the LMS.
Gold open access publishing
If publishing on a gold open access basis, authors will be asked to assign a non-exclusive Licence to Publish to the LMS.
Authors will also need to choose one of three Creative Commons licences. These licences provide a legal framework for giving users the ability to freely view, download and distribute content.
- CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 (Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License)
Allows users to copy, distribute and transmit an article as long as the author is attributed, the article is not used for commercial purposes, and the work is not modified or adapted in any way.
- CC-BY-NC 4.0 (Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License)
Allows users to copy, distribute and transmit an article, and adapt the article as long as the author is attributed and the article is not used for commercial purposes.
- CC-BY 4.0 (Attribution 4.0 International License)
Allows users to copy, distribute and transmit an article, and adapt the article as long as the author is attributed. The CC BY license permits commercial and non-commercial reuse.
Data Access Statement
Many funders now require that authors include a Data Access Statement (sometimes called Data Availability Statement) in their articles, even if no new data has been generated in the work.
The London Mathematical Society has produced guidance on this for mathematicians, including template Data Access Statements, to help mathematicians to meet their funder requirements.
If authors wish to include a Data Access Statement in their article, they will be prompted to insert it at the proof stage.
